SOUDERTON, Pa, May 19, 2010 – Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM (listed on NASDAQ: UVSP) participated in "Teach Children to Save Day" on Tuesday, April 27. The program is in partnership with the American Bankers Association, teaching children the importance of being financially responsible. Univest representatives traveled to schools throughout Montgomery and Bucks counties to teach over 300 children the importance of saving and budgeting wisely. One of the schools visited was Spring City Elementary, located within the Spring-Ford School District.

Cathie Stull, a sales and service representative at Univest's Franconia office, visited Mrs. Christine Kaba's third graders at Spring City and was welcomed with open arms. There were several lessons the children took part in that provided them with insight on purchasing items you need vs. want, and the option to save your money. Students had the opportunity to create their own bank and present their picture to the class. The children were engaged throughout the lesson and interacted very well with one another.

Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM continues to enhance its financial literacy program, financialSEN$E, with youth throughout the communities it serves. Univest takes part in the "Teach Children to Save" program each year and continues to receive positive feedback from the teachers and students.

In addition to Teach Children to Save Day, Univest welcomes student and community groups into their offices for tours and educational talks on banking. In the fall, Univest also participates in the national Get Smart About Credit Day.

"As a socially responsible company, we believe it is our responsibility to help educate our communities about the importance of savings," said Louis P. Spinelli, executive vice president and director of consumer strategy and delivery. "Managing your money wisely needs to start at an early age. And, keeping up with it as you experience various life stages - going away to college, buying your first home, getting married, and on through retirement - will help you achieve your financial dreams."
