Univest Corporation Launches Financial Sen$e
Announces Partnerships with NBC 10 and WIP Sports Radio
Ongoing program will provide financial advice and guidance to individuals through every stage of life; Univest also to sponsor NBC 10’s Money School and partner with WIP in the
WIP-Univest Student Athlete of the Year Award.
SOUDERTON, Pa., April 6, 2007 – Univest Corporation (listed on NASDAQ: UVSP) has launched Financial Sen$e, an ongoing financial literacy program designed to provide financial advice and guidance to individuals through every stage of their lives. To kick off the program, Univest has partnered with NBC 10, WCAU, sponsoring the Philadelphia station’s Money School program. Univest also has announced that it is co-sponsoring the WIP-Univest Student Athlete of the Year Award with WIP Sportsradio.
“With the personal savings rate in the United States at or near an all-time low, individuals need expert guidance with their finances more than ever,” said William S. Aichele, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Univest. “Children need to know about our economy and how money ‘works.’ Young adults need advice on buying a home, paying for college and saving for the long term. And older adults want to know how they can preserve their wealth and be assured of a comfortable retirement. Through Financial Sen$e, Univest will provide this guidance as well as providing information and advice on other financial matters.”
The Financial Sen$e program will provide free financial tips and information through classroom programs, literature, a special section on the Univest Web site, seminars, special events and more. As part of the Financial Sen$e program, Univest will be the sole sponsor of NBC 10’s Money School, a four week series of free financial seminars hosted by the station’s consumer reporter, Tracy Davidson. On April 12, 19, 26 and May 3, Davidson will lead seminars entitled, “Set a Goal and Save,” “Credit 101: It Pays to Understand,” “Get Ready to be a Home Owner” and “Which Mortgage is Right for You.”
The WIP-Univest Student Athlete of the Year Award will provide $1,000 achievement awards to seniors at 15 area public and parochial high schools. The award recipients, selected by the schools, must demonstrate strong character, sportsmanship and leadership. The individual must be an accomplished athlete, outstanding student and dedicated community volunteer. The $1,000 award is to be used by the winning student for college tuition and expenses or to assist graduating seniors advance their careers in fields that require training other than college.
