Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM Takes Local Banking To A New Level Through Its "Believe In Local" New Account Program
Customers opening new accounts receive $100 towards local purchases; company president says "being local means supporting the local economy."
SOUDERTON, Pa., April 1, 2010 – Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM, a subsidiary of Univest Corporation of Pennsylvania (NASDAQ: UVSP), is attracting new customers while also giving back to local businesses through its "Believe in Local" initiative. Customers who open a new Univest business checking, personal checking or savings account through May 15, 2010 will receive a "Believe in Local" kit, which includes a check list of more than 30 local merchants in Montgomery and Bucks counties in four categories: Home & Basics; Luxury & Leisure; Fine Dining; and Entertainment. Kit recipients can then choose one merchant from each of the categories and will receive $25 gift certificates - a total of $100 in certificates - to spend at each of the four merchants.
"A lot of area banks are touting their local roots to distinguish themselves from the big national banks that received government bailouts and 'TARP' money," said K. Leon Moyer, president and chief executive officer of Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM. "But being a local bank means more than just being locally owned. Univest is a community bank that has supported the people, businesses and charitable organizations in this region for more than 130 years. The "Believe in Local" program is our way of rewarding new customers while continuing to support our local economy."
Eligible accounts include the Anytime Online Savings, Anytime Online Checking, Primary Online Business Savings, Primary Business Checking and Honestly Free Checking - the promotion includes all checking, savings and money market accounts, this sentence is not inclusive of all account types.
