Investment Products

Mutual Funds & Unit Investment Trusts

These securities offer broad diversification and professional management as well as convenience and liquidity. Mutual funds and Unit Investment Trusts (UITs) are often used as "core" holdings to a well-balanced portfolio, with individual securities such as CDs, stocks and bonds being used to custom design a portfolio to each investor's specific unique needs.

Fixed Income

Fixed income investments such as U.S. Savings Bonds, GNMAs, CDs and corporate bonds can provide income and stability to a well diversified investment portfolio. These instruments are often used to decrease risk and increase income to the client.

Stocks

Stocks are most commonly held to generate long term capital gains and growth within an investor's portfolio. Dividend paying stocks can add an income element to a portfolio and are often used in conjunction with fixed income securities to lower volatility and increase cash flow to investors.

Annuities

Both fixed and variable annuities offer the benefit of tax deferred accumulation of wealth. Investors may choose their withdrawal method and can therefore control their tax obligations as best fits their particular financial need. Annuities may also be structured to provide an income stream for life.

Funding For Eduction

Education IRAs

You can contribute up to $500 per child per year, which is deductible from federal income taxes. Not available to single parents earning $110,000 or more or married couples earning $160,000 or more.

529 Plans

Much higher contribution limits, depending on the state in which the plan was established. In Pennsylvania, the maximum account size is $300,000 per child. Earnings are not taxed. The parent, not the child, has control of the account. More than one person can contribute to the account. Amounts above $11,000 per child per donor may be subject to the federal gift tax. In some states, contributions may be partially deductible from state income tax.

Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA)

You can also give funds directly to your children or grandchildren under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA). This reduces taxes on earnings, because they are taxed at the child's lower rate. For example, you can purchase mutual funds on the child's behalf. If the child has no other income, often the income is not taxed at all. Unlike 529 plans, however, gifts under UGMA belong to the child and cannot be returned to the giver. The child gains access to the funds at age 18.

Business Continuity Plan Disclosure

Univest Investments has developed a Business Continuity Plan on how we will respond to events that significantly disrupt our business. Since the timing and impact of disasters and disruptions is unpredictable, we will have to be flexible in responding to actual events as they occur. With that in mind, we are providing you with this information on our business continuity plan.

Contacting Us - If after a significant business disruption you cannot contact us as you usually do at 215-721-2112, you should call our alternative number 215-362-7000, or go to our web site at investments@univest.net. If you cannot access us through either of those means, you should contact our clearing firm, Pershing, LLC, at 800-220-3077, www.pershing.com for instructions on how it may process cash disbursement, security transfers, and trade-related transactions. Customers who maintain an account directly with a mutual fund or annuity company can access their funds directly by using the contact information on their statements.

Our Business Continuity Plan - We plan to quickly recover and resume business operations after a significant business disruption and respond by safeguarding our employees and property, making a financial and operational assessment, protecting the firm's books and records, and allowing our customers to transact business. In short, our business continuity plan is designed to permit our firm to resume operations as quickly as possible, given the scope and severity of the significant business disruption.

Our business continuity plan addresses: data back up and recovery; all mission critical systems; financial and operational assessments; alternative communications with customers, employees, and regulators; alternate physical location of employees; critical supplier, contractor, bank and counter-party impact; regulatory reporting; and assuring our customers prompt access to their funds and securities if we are unable to continue our business.

Our clearing firm, Pershing, LLC backs up our important records in a geographically separate area. While every emergency situation poses unique problems based on external factors, such as time of day and the severity of the disruption, we have been advised by our clearing firm that its objective is to restore its own operations and be able to complete existing transactions and accept new transactions and payments within four (4) hours. Your orders and requests for funds and securities could be delayed during this period.

Varying Disruptions - Significant business disruptions can vary in their scope, such as only our firm, a single building housing our firm, the business district where our firm is located, the city where we are located, or the whole region. Within each of these areas, the severity of the disruption can also vary from minimal to severe. In a disruption to only our firm or a building housing our firm, we will transfer our operations to a local site when needed and expect to recover and resume business within four (4) hours. In a disruption affecting our business district, city, or region, we will transfer our operations to a site outside of the affected area, and recover and resume business within 48 hours. In either situation, we plan to continue in business, transfer operations to our clearing firm if necessary, and notify you through our web site, www.univest.net or our customer emergency number, 215-362-7000 how to contact us. If the significant business disruption is so severe that it prevents us from remaining in business, we will assure our customer's prompt access to their funds and securities.

For more information - If you have questions about our business continuity planning, you can contact us at 215-721-2112 or investments@univest.net.
