SOUDERTON, Pa., March 21,
2011 - Univest
Corporation (listed on NASDAQ:
UVSP), parent company of Univest Bank and Trust
Co.SM, a full-service financial institution with 135
years of experience in delivering financial solutions including
personal and business banking, online banking, residential mortgages,
insurance products, investment and wealth advisory solutions, has
been awarded LEED® Certification established by the U.S. Green
Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification
Institute (GBCI).
"We are proud to have earned this
certification from the U.S. Green Building Council," said K. Leon
Moyer, Univest Bank and Trust Co.SM president. "This
demonstrates our commitment to being a socially and environmentally
responsible community bank."
LEED® certification of Univest's
Hilltown Financial Service Center was based on a number of green
design and construction features that positively impact the project
itself and the broader community. These features include: lighting
on solar sensors to allow lights to turn on only when needed;
enhanced recycling program within building - paper, corrugated
cardboard, glass, plastics and metals; water feature in lobby to
provide "white noise" and increase humidity in the air; deep
overhangs over window areas for summer shading plus specialized
glazing for windows to reduce glare and heat gain.
"We were fortunate to team up with
Univest and pleased to assist with the LEED Certification process,"
said Samantha Ciotti Falcone, architect and project manager at
Althouse, Jaffe & Associates, LLC. "The project has proved to
be very successful for both Univest and our firm."
LEED®
The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED green building certification

systems, comprising over 9.6 billion square feet of construction
space in all 50 states and 114 countries. By using less energy,
LEED-certified buildings save money for families, businesses and
taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a
healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger
community. USGBC was co-founded by current President and CEO Rick
Fedrizzi, who spent 25 years as a Fortune 500 executive. Under his
