SOUDERTON, Pa., December 6, 2011 - Univest
Corporation of Pennsylvania (NASDAQ: UVSP), parent company of
Univest Bank and Trust Co., a full-service financial institution
with 135 years of experience in delivering financial solutions
including personal and business banking, online banking,
residential mortgages, insurance products, investment and wealth
advisory solutions*, contributed $132,600.00 to the North Penn
United Way's 2011 capital campaign. The 2011 contribution was part
of ongoing financial and volunteer support provided by the company
and its employees.
"We are thrilled with this generous
donation from Univest Corporation," said Sarah C. Whetstone,
executive director of the North Penn United Way. "The ongoing
kindness of Univest's employees and the dedication of the
organization's employee giving match presents our community with
this significant contribution year after year - and during a time
when so many in our community are in need. Our long-standing
relationship with Univest has allowed our local United Way to
flourish and grow as an organization poised to take on the
challenges facing our community."
As a pacesetter for the 2011
campaign, Univest encouraged its employees to increase
contributions and help support the organization. The financial
support was raised through a company-wide silent auction, the 2011
Univest employee corporate giving campaign and matched funds
provided by Univest. In addition, 47 Univest employees volunteered
at various organizations, renovating parks and buildings for local
nonprofits during the United Way's Day of Caring event this past
September.
"As one of our core values, we are
committed to the community and being a socially responsible
company," said K. Leon Moyer, president and CEO of Univest Bank and
Trust Co. "To have so many of our own employees donate both their
time and money, especially during these challenging times, is
extremely heart warming."
